Dear Members and Friends,

The Notre Dame Club of Los Angeles, 2007 Club of the Year, appreciates your continuing support. Your membership enables the Club to provide a wide range of events and services for the benefit of the Notre Dame community.

Among those planned for 2009 are:
  • Scholarship aid for local students. The Club’s scholarship endowment is the largest of any ND Club. In 2008, the Club distributed over $250,000 to LA area students.

  • The Club’s Cross Cultural Leadership Internship Program. This program (jointly sponsored by the Club’s new endowment and the ND Institute for Latino Studies) supported three students in 2008 who did five week internships for credit at La Opinion, MALDEF and The Urban League.

  • University events such as Universal Notre Dame Night, a Hesburgh Lecture, networking events for Young Alums, Freshmen Sendoff, College Fairs for LA area high school students and sending LA area teachers to the annual Excellence in Teaching Conference at Notre Dame.

  • Community service events at the Good Shepherd Shelter, supporting two summer service interns, an “urban plunge” at various sites in LA for which students earn academic credit.

  • ND vs. USC game trip to campus, and other sporting events such as “Day at the Races,” a Dodger game, ND football game watches, and hosting receptions for Notre Dame sports teams.

  • Publishing a newsletter and maintaining a Web site to keep you informed.

In addition, the LA Club is only one of two ND Clubs with an office and a part-time administrator to better serve Club members.

With all of these events and activities, we hope that you will not only continue your membership but consider raising your level of participation. We expect to have a limited number of trips available for the USC game. Gold Members will have the highest priority to purchase trips. In the event the demand for trips exceeds the number available, the Club reserves the right to sell trips preferentially to members of the Club who have paid dues in both 2008 and 2009.

We look forward to seeing you at many events in 2009. Check out the Club calendar of events at www.ndcla.com or call the Club office at 626-795-NDND for more information.
